Mentor and empower young girls in Ghana through leadership training and advocacy.
Empowerment is at the heart of sustainable development. Across Ghana, many young people — especially women and girls — face barriers to education, leadership, and equal participation in social and economic life. VolunTour Africa’s Empowerment Project offers a platform for volunteers and professionals to mentor, train, and inspire individuals and communities to break those barriers and build a future full of potential.
Through this project, volunteers contribute to Care for Society Network International’s (CfSNI) flagship Women & Girls Component, and its complementary initiatives for Boys’ Development and Community Empowerment. Each sub-project provides a unique avenue for service, learning, and impact.
Improve literacy and numeracy in underserved communities
Support overworked local teachers
Enhance digital literacy where access to tech is limited
Build student confidence through mentorship and support
Volunteers stay with vetted host families or in shared volunteer guesthouses. Homes have basic but comfortable amenities, including electricity and running water (in most areas). Rooms are typically shared with 1–3 other volunteers.
Two meals per day (breakfast and dinner) are provided by host families or the volunteer house. Meals are homemade and typically include rice, plantains, stews, and local Ghanaian dishes. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with notice.

Program Fee

This program places volunteers in early childhood centers across rural and semi-urban communities in Ghana. Volunteers help nurture children aged 2–6 through play-based learning, creative arts, storytelling, hygiene routines, and early literacy. The project combines education, health, and care — ensuring that children grow up safe, confident, and ready to learn.

Support education in Ghana by volunteering in schools and helping children develop essential academic and life skills.
