The Health & Hope Tour takes a community-based approach to health promotion and education. Volunteers support public health outreaches, participate in mobile clinics, and engage with traditional healers to understand Ghana’s indigenous healing wisdom. The tour allows participants to explore the deep intersection between modern health care and traditional wellness systems while delivering practical assistance to underserved populations.
Good health is the foundation of hope — and hope inspires transformation. The Health and Hope Tour by VolunTour Africa offers a unique opportunity to combine community service, public health outreach, and cultural learning through traditional healing practices in the beautiful Volta Region of Ghana.
This project connects international and local volunteers with rural clinics, health educators, and traditional practitioners to promote preventive health care, cultural exchange, and holistic community well-being.
Your presence brings both healing and hope to underserved communities.
Through your service, you become part of Ghana’s movement to make health accessible, culturally grounded, and community-led.
Volunteers stay with vetted host families or in shared volunteer guesthouses. Homes have basic but comfortable amenities, including electricity and running water (in most areas). Rooms are typically shared with 1–3 other volunteers.
Two meals per day (breakfast and dinner) are provided by host families or the volunteer house. Meals are homemade and typically include rice, plantains, stews, and local Ghanaian dishes. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with notice.
