This project focuses on forest restoration, wildlife protection, and environmental education in forest-fringe communities of Ghana. You will engage in activities that combine fieldwork, awareness creation, and sustainable livelihood support to strengthen local stewardship of the environment.
Ghana’s forests and wildlife are vital to life — they store water, regulate climate, and sustain thousands of plant and animal species. Yet many of these treasures are threatened by illegal mining, deforestation, and climate change.
VolunTour Africa invites you to take part in a hands-on environmental journey that blends community action, ecological learning, and adventure. Through this project, volunteers become ambassadors for climate action, working directly with local conservation groups, forest rangers, and schools to restore and protect the country’s natural heritage.

Volunteers stay with vetted host families or in shared volunteer guesthouses. Homes have basic but comfortable amenities, including electricity and running water (in most areas). Rooms are typically shared with 1–3 other volunteers.
Two meals per day (breakfast and dinner) are provided by host families or the volunteer house. Meals are homemade and typically include rice, plantains, stews, and local Ghanaian dishes. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with notice.
