The Empowerment Project equips local youth and community members with life skills, leadership abilities, and self-awareness for personal and collective growth. Volunteers facilitate mentoring, workshops, and livelihood sessions in schools, youth clubs, and rural communities — creating ripple effects that build confidence, reduce inequality, and promote social inclusion.
Empowerment is at the heart of sustainable development. Across Ghana, many young people — especially women and girls — face barriers to education, leadership, and equal participation in social and economic life. VolunTour Africa’s Empowerment Project offers a platform for volunteers and professionals to mentor, train, and inspire individuals and communities to break those barriers and build a future full of potential.
Through this project, volunteers contribute to Women & Girls Component, and its complementary initiatives for Boys’ Development and Community Empowerment. Each sub-project provides a unique avenue for service, learning, and impact.

Two meals per day (breakfast and dinner) are provided by host families or the volunteer house. Meals are homemade and typically include rice, plantains, stews, and local Ghanaian dishes. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with notice.
